About Me
I am a poet, translator, and student in the MFA in Writing program at Vermont College of Fine Arts. My poetry collection, Kali Sutra, was a semifinalist in Tupelo Press’s First or Second Book of Poetry Contest. I am working on my second collection as a pleasant diversion from the task of getting that first one published. And my posts here are a pleasant diversion from that! I hope you get as much pleasure in reading these poems and musings as I take in writing them.

A.,
We met at the Cornelia Street Cafe last March when you and your significant other came to hear me read from my first book. I know it’s been nearly 10 months, but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated you coming to hear me (and buying me a beer) and how I wished we could have talked more about poetry and photography. I found your web address in my 2011 notebook and thought I’d drop you a line. Great work you have posted here, by the way.
Hope you’re doing well and writing your stars out,
Katie Phillips
Thanks Katie! It was such a pleasure to meet you, and I treasure your book. Are you going to be at the AWP conference? If so, let’s try to cross paths! -Anu
Yes, I’ll be at AWP! I’m doing a book signing at the Slapering Hol Press table at the book fair on Thursday evening 4:30-5:30, so maybe we can meet then? Or, send me your email address and I’ll send you my cell phone number so we’re sure to find each other. Looking forward to it!
